Well, to my great frustration, I have succeeded in not going out to get a new bike for yet another day. Granted I wouldn’t be getting out to practice this week anyway as I’m a bit on the busy side, with an extra shift at work tonight and, oh yeah,
I’m going to the Paralympic road cycling on Thursday
I honestly could not be more excited about this. I got a bit tired of sitting around at home moping because I couldn’t get any tickets to the events inside the Olympic Park. At the end of the day I know the Road Cycling is going to be my favourite event by far, and an all day ticket for £10 is a ridiculous bargain even if it doesn’t mean I can see the Park.
Speaking of which, there still appear to be tickets available, so what the heck are you waiting for? If you’re concerned about getting to Brands Hatch in Kent, there are shuttle buses running from Sevenoaks station, so it really shouldn’t be all that complicated. I think it’s going to be a great day and I’m going on my own, so I want there to be plenty of other spectators who are prepared to let me chat randomly to them. So get on with it! Tickets can be booked here:
If you need any further encouragement, British Cycling have laid on a rather good preview of the event. Unfortunately I’ll be missing out on the Handcycling, which will no doubt be fascinating, but there are some great road races going on Thursday with some of the stars of the track cycling, including Sarah Storey, Mark Colbourne and Jon-Allan Butterworth.
Hopefully watching the racing will inspire me to get on a bike even more than before and I will run out of excuses to sit around at home on my days off instead of going and buying a super new bike.
